Switched my work commute by 20 minutes and found a hidden gem

I drive from Renton to Bellevue every day and always took I-405 because maps said it was fastest. Last Tuesday I had to drop my wife off at the light rail station in Tukwila, so I took surface streets instead. Ended up on Willows Road and it was shockingly smooth. Maybe 5 extra miles but zero stop and go. Got to work in 28 minutes vs my usual 35-40 sitting in that construction mess near the 405/167 merge. Did it again Thursday and same result. Now I'm wondering how many people just stick with the highway out of habit. Anyone else find a random backroad that beats the GPS route every time?
