That moment when my GPS took me through a low water crossing in Texas

I was driving from Austin to a job site near San Marcos last spring and my phone's GPS routed me down this tiny farm road. Figured it was a shortcut, right? Then I come up on this low water crossing with no barrier and a sign that says "Turn Around Don't Drown" but the water didn't look that deep. I crept forward in my Toyota Corolla and halfway through that water was up past my hubcaps and I felt the car start to drift sideways. Panic set in fast, I gunned the engine and somehow made it to the other side with water sloshing inside the doors. Pulled over shaking and checked my air filter which was completely soaked. Had to call my boss and tell him I was gonna be late because I had to dry out my engine bay. Has anyone else had a GPS send them down a road that was basically a river?

Wait your air filter was completely soaked? Dude that's terrifying. I would have just assumed the engine was toast if I saw that. Did you actually get it dried out okay or did you end up having to replace the whole thing?

Man I did the exact same thing in my old Civic and thought I was starring in my own personal Noah's Ark scene.
