That rest stop outside Tulsa taught me a lesson about coffee cups

I was parked at the I-44 rest stop near Tulsa last month and watched a guy try to toss his empty cup into the trash from his cab and miss completely, creating a sticky mess on the pavement. Now I always step out and actually walk it over to the can before I take off, and it's saved me from having to clean up a spill later. Anybody else got a simple habit that keeps your cab from turning into a disaster zone?

That "actually walk it over" rule is smart, I do the same with drink lids-cracks just wait to ruin your seat.

That's a good point about the cracks, but here's what I'm wondering - do you actually check every lid before you walk it over? Because I've had times where I thought a lid was on tight, took two steps, and then felt that cold drip on my hand. It's maddening (and sticky). The real trick is to give the cup a little test tip before you leave the counter, right? Sometimes I even press around the edge to make sure it's sealed, especially with those thin plastic lids they give you for iced coffee. Not judging your method at all, just curious how foolproof you've found it.
