The $15 dash cam mount that saved my rear bumper last Tuesday

I bought a cheap sticky dash cam mount from the auto parts store to stop mine from flopping, and it held steady through the worst pothole on Route 9. That let me catch a guy who backed into my car in a parking lot and tried to drive off, the plate came out crystal clear. Has anyone else had a cheap mount hold up better than the expensive ones?

The cheap ones are often lighter, so less stress on the mount might be the real trick here.
