The $20 my mechanic refused to charge me for taught me more about traffic than any sign
Pulled into a shop off route 46 in Jersey with a brake squeal and the guy poked his head in, said "you got 5,000 miles left on those pads, don't let anyone sell you rotors," and waved me off without charging a dime. It hit me on the drive home that I've been treating other drivers like the upsell mechanic, assuming every tailgater and lane cutter is out to screw me over. So what's the move when someone lets you merge during rush hour, do you wave, flash your lights, or just keep it moving?
Waving back at the guy who let you in costs nothing and might make him do it again for the next car. Small stuff like that adds up, next thing you know half the road is giving each other a break instead of riding bumpers.
