The stat about left lane campers I found while waiting in traffic yesterday
I was sitting on I-5 near Seattle stuck behind some guy doing 62 in the left lane and looked up what that actually costs everyone. Turns out a single left lane camper can delay up to 50 cars per mile if traffic is moderate, which adds like 15 minutes to everyone's commute. Has anyone else looked up how many tickets these folks actually get compared to how many do it?

I used to be that guy doing 62 in the left lane but this stat actually made me move over.

Left lane campers probably get less tickets than people who roll through stop signs in empty parking lots, which says a lot about enforcement priorities. At this point it feels like Washington State Patrol is just hoping we all sort it out with aggressive tailgating instead. But hey, keep doing 62 in the fast lane and maybe we can test that 50-car delay theory in real time.
