Used to blast through yellow lights without thinking, now I actually stop

Back in 2021 I used to be the guy flooring it through yellows on 6th Avenue near downtown. Then I saw a video from a traffic engineer in Denver who said red light cameras catch you if you enter after .3 seconds, and I got a ticket for $75 that same month. Now I just tap the brakes and wait, saves me cash and nerves. Anyone else change a habit after a specific incident?

Ngl I still see people floor it through yellows and think "have fun with that $75 donation to the city." Tbh the whole thing just feels like gambling now except the house always wins.

Nah you're right about the gambling part, but red light cameras aren't really about the city making money anymore in most places. They actually have to prove the intersection is dangerous first, and most of the fines go to the company running the cameras, not the city. Still annoying though getting a ticket in the mail weeks later.
