I never believed in "rescuing" burnt food until last night
I scorched a $15 pork shoulder so bad the smoke alarm went off twice, but my roommate told me to scrape off the black layer and simmer it in some apple cider vinegar for 20 minutes. It actually came out tender and edible, which is wild because I was ready to toss the whole thing in the trash. Has anyone else found a weird trick that saved a meal you thought was doomed?

Wait, does the vinegar trick work for other meats too or just pork? I feel like that acid must be doing something magic with the burnt bits because I accidentally did that to a cheap cut of beef once and it was weirdly salvageable.
