Kitchen timer vs. phone timer, which one actually saves dinner?

I was at a friend's place in Austin last week and watched her burn a pot of rice because her phone timer went off but she was scrolling, meanwhile my old dial timer from the thrift store has straight up saved my casseroles twice this month. Do you guys think the physical ticking and noise makes you move faster, or is it just about not having other apps to distract you? I'm genuinely torn between buying a $15 dedicated timer or just locking my phone in a drawer when I cook.

honestly the dial timer is the move, the ticking is like a constant reminder that rice is cooking. i used to use my phone and would always get sucked into some random video and next thing i know the smoke alarm is going off. plus you can toss the cheap timer across the kitchen when it goes off, try doing that with a phone lol.
