Ruined a pot of chili on Tuesday by walking away for 4 minutes, is there any way to fix burnt beans or do I toss it
So I had a pot of chili going on Tuesday night, it had been simmering for about 90 minutes and smelled great, and I ran upstairs to switch the laundry over. Four minutes, that is all it was. Came back down and the bottom was stuck and scorched, you could smell the burn from the hallway. I stirred it right away and scraped the bottom, then poured the whole thing into a new pot without scraping, but the taste is still there, kinda smoky and bitter underneath everything. I added a spoon of sugar and some more tomato sauce like my neighbor suggested, but it only helped a little. The beans on the bottom are pretty much ruined but the ones floating up top seem okay. Do I just toss the whole batch or is there a real trick to save it? I hate dumping 2 pounds of beef and a whole afternoon into the trash.
Man just toss it. Burnt bean taste does not come out, ever. All that sugar and tomato sauce is just lipstick on a pig, you are eating bitter chili for a week and pretending it is fine.
