Shoutout to that time I tried to rescue a burnt chili with peanut butter
I used to think adding more liquid was the only way to save scorched chili, just dump in broth and hope for the best. Last week I burned a batch so bad it smelled like a campfire, and a friend told me to stir in a spoonful of peanut butter. I was skeptical but tried it, and it actually smoothed out the bitter burnt taste without making it taste like a sandwich. Has anyone else got weird secret ingredients they use to cover up a charred mess?

Peanut butter in chili is an INSULT to both chili and peanut butter, honestly just toss the batch and start over instead of ruining two good things at once. A spoonful of sugar or honey does the same trick without turning your dinner into dessert.

My first burn rescue was actually with a can of Coke, believe it or not. I scorched a pot of chili so bad it tasted like ash, and my dad told me to pour in half a can and let it simmer. The sugar and acid totally cut through the burnt flavor, and I've done it a couple times since then. The peanut butter trick sounds way better though, especially since you don't have to worry about making your chili sweet. I'm honestly gonna try that next time I leave a pot on the stove too long during a night shift crash.
