Spent $80 on a fancy pizza stone and it cracked my oven rack instead
I was so excited to get that thick baking steel, thought it would make my frozen pizzas come out crispy like a real pizzeria. Cost me about $80 at a kitchen supply store downtown. First time I used it, I put it on the lower rack like the instructions said, turned the oven to 500 degrees. About 20 minutes in I heard this loud pop and smelled something burning. Turns out the weight of the steel bent my oven rack just enough that it tipped and slid off, hitting the heating element. Pizza ended up on the floor with a melted plastic spatula I forgot was in there. Now I just use a cheap $15 pan from Target and it works fine. Anyone else have a fancy gadget ruin something else in the kitchen?
