That 'save a burnt sauce with peanut butter' trick actually worked for my chili

I was making a big pot of chili last night and walked away to check on the game, came back to a scorched bottom layer that ruined the whole batch. Threw in a spoonful of creamy peanut butter on a whim after reading some random reddit comment and it actually smoothed out the bitter burnt flavor. Has anyone else tried weird pantry stuff to fix a ruined dish or was I just lucky?

That peanut butter trick works because the fat binds with the burnt compounds, but did you try adding a splash of vinegar first to cut the bitterness?

Vinegar in chili after peanut butter? That's wild.
