Used to cook eggs in a cast iron with way too much butter, now I use medium heat and a nonstick pan

Switched after I burned 7 out of 10 attempts last spring and got sick of scrubbing carbonized egg off that old skillet, anyone else ditch their grandmother's methods for something easier?

What kind of butter ratio were you running before you switched? Because I've seen people use half a stick for two eggs like it's a cooking show and then wonder why the kitchen smells like a dairy fire. Seven out of ten is rough though, I probably would have chucked the pan by attempt five. Does the nonstick hold up without needing a full re-seasoning every other breakfast?

Half a stick for two eggs is basically a light gloss if you ask me - I run a full tablespoon per egg and my kitchen smells like a dream, not a disaster. Your nonstick probably isn't the issue, you're just not committing to the butter.
