My last fryer left a half moon on the strip loin, found the cause at 2am

Opened the new Hobart at the store yesterday and the blade gap sat 2mm too wide, no idea how that passed inspection. Anyone else here run a feeler gauge on their band saw before first use or just trust it out of the crate?

That half moon on a good strip loin makes my stomach turn just thinking about it, 2mm is huge.

Funny thing is my last blade check saved me two whole primal cuts before a busy Friday, so yeah I run a feeler gauge on every new machine now. @verawhite is right that 2mm is brutal, but at least your half moon was marbled enough to pass off as a weird tomahawk, right? Trusting a crate is like trusting the temp probe without calibrating it, you only make that mistake once.
