Saw a stat that said 40% of beef gets wasted in the supply chain

Was reading some USDA report last night and it said something like 40% of beef never makes it to the table between farm and fork. That number seems crazy high to me given how careful we are with scraps and trim. Any of you guys ever run into numbers like that from your suppliers?

Nah, that stat is BS - processors are too good at selling every last scrap these days.

Is it bad that I still can't even sell my old phone case on Facebook Marketplace without getting ghosted by three people first? I swear the only thing I'm an expert at is collecting dust on my own junk...
