Just got burned by a cheap disability lawyer last month

I hired a guy from a billboard in LA for my SSDI case back in March. He missed the deadline for my hearing by 3 days because his paralegal quit and nobody told me. I called the SSA office and they said my application was closed out. Had to start over from scratch and now I'm out $500 in filing fees and 6 months of waiting. Has anyone else had a lawyer just drop the ball like this without warning?

Damn that's rough, I feel for you. I had a similar situation with a lawyer I found through a referral, he straight up forgot to file my paperwork for a year and I only found out when I called SSA to check on it. Lost a whole year of back pay and had to start from square one with a different attorney who actually kept me in the loop. It's crazy how some of these guys just take your money and ghost you without a second thought, especially when your whole disability claim is on the line.

I get your frustration, but some of us actually do our jobs right and keep clients updated.
