PSA: My disability claim took 18 months because I missed one form

I filed my CA disability claim back in March 2023 thinking it'd be a few months wait. Lawyer told me to send in a medical history form from my primary doctor, but I forgot to sign it. That one mistake added 9 extra months of back and forth with the SSA. Has anyone else had a delay like this over a simple paperwork error?

Huh, that sounds like a stretch to me. Are you sure the missing signature was the only thing holding it up or did other stuff also play into it?

What, seriously? One forgotten signature canned 9 extra months? That is insane. I would be climbing the walls if I had to wait that long over a little slip like that. They really need to streamline this mess.

Dude, I literally signed my name in the wrong box on a form once and the state sent it back to me with a red circle and a sticky note that said "try again" lol. 9 months over a signature feels about right for government paperwork though, they love sending stuff back for tiny things like that. My buddy waited 14 months because he forgot to check a box that said "yes I am a human" or something equally silly.
