Tried a big firm then a solo lawyer for my disability case and the solo was way better

Honestly the big firm kept passing me between paralegals but the solo lawyer actually remembered my name and my whole medical history from talking once, has anyone else found smaller firms just give more attention?

Oh come on, is it really that big of a deal that a solo lawyer remembered your name? Like, that's the bare minimum of customer service, not some amazing feat. Big firms have more resources and specialists, so they might actually have a better shot at complicated cases. You got lucky with your solo guy, but that doesn't mean small firms are automatically better across the board. What happens when that solo lawyer gets sick or goes on vacation, you're just stuck waiting with no backup plan?

Yeah but you said "bare minimum of customer service" and I think that's actually the point people are missing. See, I've worked with both types - big firms and solo guys - and here's the thing nobody talks about: solo lawyers usually have way fewer clients per year, so they can actually remember the details of your case without checking a file every five minutes. Your "bare minimum" is actually a luxury in a world where most firms treat you like a number. And about the vacation thing - my solo guy has a whole network of other solos he trades referrals with, so when he's out, someone else picks up the slack. It's not like he just disappears into a black hole, you know?

@umar59 must've had some truly awful small firm experiences to be this salty.
