A client told me my drawer slides were too loud and I had to rethink everything

I been using cheap side-mount slides for years on budget jobs. Last month a guy in Seattle pointed out the noise every time he opened a drawer in his kitchen I built. He was right, it was a loud click and rattle. I switched to soft-close undermounts on his redo and now I quote them for every job. Has anyone else had a hardware change completely shift how you price things?

Oh man, the click and rattle is exactly what drove me crazy too. I switched to undermounts a couple years back for the same reason, and @the_mary is right that the slow close is part of it, but for me it was mostly that initial metal snap every time someone grabbed a spoon. Now I won't even look at side-mount slides unless the budget absolutely forces it. Once you hear that difference, you can't unhear it.

Loud click and rattle" isn't really what soft-close fixes though.

Oh yeah totally, it's more about the slow close part, not the noise.
