Can we talk about the week I had 3 cabinet doors explode in the shop

I was clamping a maple shaker door on Tuesday and the whole stile split clean in half, then two more did it on Wednesday and Thursday, turned out my humidity gauge was reading 20% off for over a month.

Ngl, my humidity gauge and I have a very toxic relationship at this point. Tbh it's basically gaslighting me - telling me everything's fine while my doors are out here pulling a Houdini.

Man I used to think those cheap little humidity meters were good enough... you know, just stick one in the room and you're fine. But after seeing posts like this from @graydavis and then my own basement door started sticking last month while my gauge was reading 45%... turns out the spot I put it was too close to a vent so it was getting dry air while the rest of the room was damp. Now I've got three of them placed at floor level in different spots and actually checking them before I go to bed.

Man, that hurts just reading it. Three doors in a row with that kind of failure, especially after all the work you put in, that's brutal. Those hidden humidity swings sure sneak up on you until it's too late.
