I switched from a 1/2-inch to a 1/4-inch spiral bit for my drawer box dados and it cut my sanding time in half.

Smart move. The smaller bit leaves way less tear-out.

Nice. I once used a smaller bit for plywood.

My buddy Carl tried that on a sheet of birch ply for a bookshelf project. He used a 1/4 inch bit like you did, reese124, and the edge was super clean. He was so happy he didn't have to spend an hour sanding out all those little chips. It's one of those simple tricks that makes a huge difference. What kind of plywood were you working with?
