Just finished a job using both pocket screws and mortise and tenon for the face frames.
The pocket screws started to show movement after a year in a client's humid Florida kitchen, but the mortise and tenon joints I did on another project are still rock solid. Anyone have a favorite glue for that joint in high humidity?

Saw a woodworking blog ages ago that swore by old hide glue for humid places, said it moves with the wood better. Not the liquid stuff, the kind you heat up. Honestly though, a good waterproof PVA like Titebond III is what most people actually use and it seems to hold up fine. Florida is a whole different beast for wood movement lol.

Yeah, the whole hide glue thing is one of those ideas that sounds great until you're the one melting glue in a double boiler. I tried it once for a picture frame, and let's just say my kitchen smelled like a sad petting zoo for a week. My wife still brings it up. For us normal people who don't have a glue pot on the stove, that Titebond III is a lifesaver. It's just sitting there in the bottle, ready to go.

My kitchen still has a faint barnyard smell from my own hide glue disaster last year. The whole "traditional method" thing is a trap for anyone without a dedicated glue room. I'll take the bottle of modern glue that doesn't require a hazmat suit.
