Over-boring a hinge cup at 11pm, salvaged it with a shim, but should I have just remade it?

Last Tuesday I was finishing up a walnut cabinet for a client in Portland and my 35mm Forstner bit wandered about 2mm on the last door. I panicked and glued in a thin maple shim, re-bored it, and the hinge sits fine now, but you can see a faint line if you look close. My gut says a customer might notice it in five years, while my wallet says $90 in material and three hours of work to remake the door is overkill. Those of you who do this full time, when do you draw the line and eat the cost of a fresh panel over a field fix?

Ugh, that's the classic trap... a shim buys you time but never really disappears, and once you see that line, you'll see it every time you walk past that cabinet. For a client piece, I'd eat the $90 and remake it, honestly, the peace of mind is worth more than the material cost.
