Shoutout to Blum vs. soft-close knockoffs, 80 doors later
I ran a 40-cabinet kitchen job in Dayton last month and used cheap soft-close hinges on the first 20 doors to save the client money. The last 20 got Blum clips, and the difference is night and day after 6 weeks of use. The knockoffs started sagging and making this weird creak, while the Blum ones still feel brand new. Is it worth the extra $1.50 per hinge on every job, or do you guys just spec the cheap stuff and plan for callbacks? I'm honestly thinking about making Blum the default on all my quotes, but I don't want to price myself out of budget builds. Has anyone else run a side by side like this and stuck with one or the other?

Six weeks in and I would've said you're crazy, but that test just sold me on Blum too.
