Shoutout to using a rubber band for consistent drill depth
I kept drilling too deep on a small jewelry box build. Wrapping a rubber band around the bit at the right spot stops you from going past it. Simple fix that works every time.

Last project, the rubber band slipped and ruined the piece. A bit of tape holds position better.

See, I've had the total opposite happen. Tape can leave a gross sticky mess if you're working with wood or something porous, and it tears the grain when you pull it off. A thick rubber band, especially one of those wide ones, has never slipped on me if I double loop it. I've found it gives a more even pressure on weird shapes too, where tape might just peel right back.

My maple box project had the same slip issue until I switched to tape (game changer). I was team rubber band before that, honestly.
