Almost ran 6 drops off one 8-port splitter until a retiree at the supply counter set me straight
Stopped by the supply house on Grand Ave in Des Moines for a box of RG6 connectors and overheard an older guy telling the kid behind the counter why he refuses to use splitters on long runs anymore. He said he spent 20 years chasing repeat truck rolls on a 12 unit complex in Council Bluffs, and the fix turned out to be home runs to a distribution point instead of daisy chaining 8 way splitters. I had two jobs on the board where I was planning to feed 6 drops off one 8 port splitter because it was fast and the signal read fine at the tap. I pulled the splitters off both trucks that afternoon and honestly the picture quality complaints at both addresses went away on the first callback check. Anyone here still using 8 ways for multi room setups, or is that just asking for a free return trip six months down the road?
