Rant: one bad connector on a 3 story house ate my whole Saturday
Had a job out in Beaverton last Saturday, simple 3 outlet install, should have been done by noon. Turned out one line had a chewed up connector behind the wall plate that kept giving me a weak signal, and my meter showed it dropping every few minutes. I pulled that plate off 4 times and swapped 3 different splitters before I figured out the fitting itself was bad. Whole thing should have been 2 hours, I walked out of there at 6pm. The part that got me was the signal was fine on my tester at the box, it only choked up once it hit that run. Anyone got a trick for hunting down a flaky connector without pulling every plate in the house?
Sounds like that connector was put there just to ruin your weekend on purpose. Next time try wiggling each fitting while watching the meter, a bad one usually drops out the second you poke it. At least you got paid for the extra hours, even if the day was shot.
