Saw something smart on a hospital install in Austin

I was doing a cat6 pull at the new St. David's wing off 38th and noticed the other crew had their horizontal cabling J-hooks spaced at 4 feet instead of my usual 5. They said the building engineer required it for their seismic rating, and it made me think about how my commercial jobs could use the same trick. The extra hooks added maybe 45 minutes to their day but kept the bundles dead flat. Has anyone else run into stricter spacing specs on medical or government jobs that you ended up using on regular work too?

Yeah, actually the seismic thing is real for hospitals but it's not about keeping bundles flat, it's about preventing the J-hooks from snapping if the building swings. The 4 foot spacing is code for a reason, but using it on regular commercial work is overkill unless your local inspector calls for it.
