Splicing with gloves vs bare hands, which side are you on?

Had a job in Brentwood last week where it was 18 degrees and I had to terminate a drop. I chose to work without gloves because I needed the feel for the connectors, ended up with numb fingers by the end. Now I'm thinking I should've just taken twice as long with the insulated ones. Does anyone else risk it for the dexterity or am I just impatient?
