Talked to an old Bell guy about pulling fiber through conduit last week and he dropped a trick about using dish soap instead of lube that I can't get out of my head
He said the soap dries out and leaves no residue so you don't get that sticky buildup inside the conduit over time, but I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this on a long pull without it gumming up the cable jacket?

Old Bell guys are the absolute worst for dropping old school tricks that are technically correct but feel wrong.
I can just hear the manager now getting mad because the pull turned into a "lemon fresh" scented disaster.

Wait, would the soap residue actually mess with the cable jacket over time or is that just an urban legend? I'm with @david562 on old Bell guys having weird but kinda working tricks, even if this one sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Bet the manager would love explaining to the client why their new fiber smells like a lemon grove.
