That old timer in Tulsa taught me to stop twisting coax

I was on a job in Tulsa last month helping out a veteran installer who's been doing this since the 80s. He watched me terminate a line, then just shook his head and said "you're killing the signal with those twists." He showed me how to keep the cable straight and use a compression tool properly, said I was making micro fractures. Has anyone else had to unlearn bad habits from bosses who didn't know better?

Yeah twisting coax is a HARD habit to break. I was guilty of that for way too long too.

I dunno man, I actually switched to compression fittings a few years ago and never looked back. They hold way tighter and I haven't had a single issue with signal loss since.
