TIL that wiping down coax cables with isopropyl alcohol before a termination actually helps

An old timer at a supply house in Austin told me to do this a few months ago. I tried it on a tough run last week and my signal loss dropped by about 2 dB on the meter. Has anyone else tried this trick or do you just dry-terminate and hope for the best?

Used to think it was just old timer superstition but I gave it a shot on a messy attic run last month. Wiped the whole length down with 91% iso before putting connectors on and my return loss numbers came out way cleaner than my usual dry crimps. Still not gonna do it for every single job but for those long problem runs it made a real noticeable difference on the meter.

Ha, nice! I still side eye it a bit but your numbers don't lie. Might have to steal that trick for the ugly ones.
