Tried zip tying every drop line to the J hook and it made my Richmond job take 2 hours longer
Last Tuesday I ran a 6 drop install in a house out in Richmond and decided to zip tie every single line to the J hooks instead of just the ones near the bends. It looked super clean walking through, but I ended up eating about 2 extra hours because I had to cut and redo 3 ties where the cable needed slack and I did not leave enough play. The homeowner even said it looked nice but I was already running way behind on my next appointment. Turns out snug ties everywhere actually bite into the jacket once it gets hot in the attic, so now I only tie at the turns and leave the straight runs loose. Anyone else had ties cause more grief than they were worth, or is there a brand of hook that holds the run without needing them at all?
