Can we talk about that one clerk at the courthouse who actually walked me through filing a small claims form

I was at the San Diego courthouse last Tuesday totally lost on how to file a response form. This older lady behind the counter saw me staring at the instructions for 10 minutes and just came around to help. She pointed to line 7 and said "start here, ignore everything above that." Saved me from messing up the whole thing. Has anyone else had a clerk go way beyond their job to help out?

Oh come on, let's not pretend this is some heartwarming story. That clerk probably just didn't want you standing there taking up space and slowing down the line for everyone else. She pointed at a line and said one sentence, big deal. If she really cared, she would have told you to read the instructions first instead of handholding you through something you should have looked up online. People act like civil servants are saints for doing the bare minimum part of their job description. I bet she had five other people waiting behind you and just wanted to move things along.

From my experience working retail, sure, she might have been trying to keep the line moving. But I've definitely been on both sides of that counter. Sometimes just pointing someone in the right direction is a genuine help, not just a brush-off. Last week a customer was totally lost looking for a specific bolt size and I just walked them straight to the aisle. Made their whole day and it took me maybe thirty seconds. So I don't think it's always about being impatient, sometimes people just want to be helpful in the quickest way possible.

Is it really worth getting this worked up over someone pointing at a line?
