Found a loophole in my lease renewal after 2 landlord mistakes
My landlord in Sacramento tried to raise rent 15% but forgot to give the 60 day notice, and then the county rent registry showed he never filed the exemption, so I got him to drop it to 3%, has anyone else caught their landlord missing a filing deadline?

Man, talk about the universe lining things up for you. Landlords messing up paperwork is like finding free money on the sidewalk, except it's actually rent you don't have to pay. Most people just take the increase and grumble, but you actually read the fine print. That's better than any coupon I've ever clipped, lol. My buddy tried something similar in Oakland once and the landlord just said "fine, move out." I guess Sacramento landlords can't play that game, which is wild. Good on you for catching the missed deadline, thats the kind of win that keeps me going.
