Got pulled over on the 405 near Culver City and the cop let me go, but I still can't figure out if I did the right thing
Last Tuesday I was driving back from a job in Torrance around 8pm when a CHP officer pulled me over on the 405 near the Culver City exit, said I was going 74 in a 65. He asked if I knew why he stopped me and I just said honestly that I figured I was going a bit fast but traffic was moving and I was keeping up. He looked at my license and registration, asked if I had any questions about the stop, and then told me to slow it down and let me go with just a warning. Here's what's bugging me, I have a buddy who swears you should never admit speed and that saying anything is basically handing them a ticket, but I said what I said and it worked out. Now I'm wondering if that was luck or if being straight with them actually matters in a stop like that. Has anyone dealt with something similar, and does admitting it ever come back to bite you if it goes to court?
