I had a buddy in North Park whose landlord tried the same thing back in 2022, jacked his rent like 18% with barely any heads up. He looked into it and found out California has this law where if you go over 10% in a year you have to give 90 days notice, not 30. Below that it's just 30 days. So depending on how much your rent actually is, 14% seems like it should've triggered the longer notice. Might be worth a call to the tenant rights folks down there.
