A museum in Rochester had a display of original Kodak repair manuals from the 1940s.

Seeing those old diagrams and handwritten notes in the margins gave me a whole new respect for the folks who did this work before we had online forums or even consistent schematics.

Totally get what you mean about trusting those old notes! It's wild to think about how much practical knowledge was passed down that way. @diana_black is right, you really did have to take those handwritten tips as absolute truth. Those notes in the margin were probably the difference between a quick fix and a broken camera for the next person. Makes you appreciate the community aspect of it, even before the internet.

Ever try to fix something using a manual like that? I mean, you gotta trust those old notes like they're gospel.
