Just crossed 100 shutter repairs on vintage Nikons...

Hit 100 repairs on old Nikon F and F2 bodies last week. Didn't even realize I was keeping track until I flipped through my notebook. Most of them were stuck shutters from sitting in basements too long. A few had mangled curtains from people trying to wind the film with the advance lever locked. I guess what surprised me is how many of them just needed a good clean and a new light seal kit. Anyone else keep a count of a specific model they work on a lot?

Man, I used to be one of those guys who thought you had to retrain the shutter curtains every single time or replace the whole assembly. Thought anything less was just a bandaid fix. But honestly, seeing how many of those old Nikons just needed a proper clean and fresh seals really changed my mind. It's wild how much gunk and dried out foam can mess up a shutter that's otherwise totally fine. Now I always start with the basics before I go tearing into the curtain tension or anything serious. Saves a ton of time and keeps those cameras original for way longer.
