PSA: Found out most shutter lubricants degrade faster in humid shops
I read a repair log from a guy in Florida who measured 60% of his CLA failures coming from dried-up lube within 18 months, and it convinced me to switch to a synthetic grease for my next overhaul.

Notice the same pattern with power tools too, the cheap factory grease always dries out fast in a damp garage where a good synthetic holds up years longer. It's like manufacturers just use whatever works for a dry climate and call it good enough.

Honestly, that explains so much. I had a buddy who ran a shop near the coast and he swore his CLA work would just crap out way faster than mine. He finally figured out it was the humidity too, switched to a thick silicone based grease and said it's been night and day ever since. Ngl I used to just grab whatever generic camera lube from the hardware store until he told me that story. Now I'm definitely more careful about what I put in shutters.
