Why does nobody talk about the 500th shutter job being the one that finally teaches you patience?
I was cleaning out my bench log last week and added up all the shutter repairs I have done since I started at this shop in Reno back in 2019. The number came out to 512, and I sat there staring at it for a minute because I honestly would have guessed maybe 200. The weird part is I can barely remember the first hundred. Those early ones were all white knuckles and swearing under my breath, scared I would bend a blade or lose a tiny spring into the carpet. Somewhere in that pile of jobs I stopped thinking so hard about each step and just started feeling where things go. The 500 mark is not a trophy, it is just the point where my hands quit arguing with my brain. Now I am wondering if the next big jump is closer to a thousand, or if it plateaus and you stop getting faster at all. Any of you keep a running count of a single repair type, and did a certain number surprise you when you finally looked?
