Battled a tent pole repair for 4 hours before giving in and buying new ones

I was dead set on fixing my old tent poles after a crack appeared on the last trip. Tried epoxy, duct tape, even a splint from a twig, but every fix failed under tension. After wasting a whole Saturday and breaking two drill bits, I finally ordered a replacement set online. Took maybe 20 minutes to swap them out when they arrived. Anyone else stubbornly tried to repair something way past its prime?

My buddy Dave spent three hours sewing up a ripped backpack before just buying a new one.

My friend Jenna once spent two whole afternoons darning holes in her favorite wool sweater. She used this special thread and everything, matching the color perfectly. Then her cat threw up on it the very next day and she never wore it again. Some things just aren't meant to last I guess, no matter how hard you try.
