Figured out my tent stakes were backwards after 10 years of camping
Last month at a site near Lake Tahoe, a gust pulled my corner stake clean out of the gravel and the fly slammed into my face. I looked at the stake and realized the hook part was facing the tent, not away from it, so it was basically just sliding out instead of biting. I always thought the angle of the stake was the issue, but it was the orientation this whole time. Now I flip them so the curve points outward and they actually hold in loose soil. Has anyone else had that dumb lightbulb moment with basic gear you've been using forever?

That lightbulb moment where you realize the simplest thing was wrong the whole time... happens with everything.
