Had a revelation about my sleeping pad setup after 8 years of camping
I always thought you needed to inflate those pads to where they felt almost rock hard. Figured that gave you the best support and insulation from the ground. Last month I was out at Shenandoah and woke up freezing for the third night in a row. This older guy in the next site asked if my pad was overinflated. Said it creates air pockets that let cold air circulate underneath you. I let some air out that night and slept warm for the first time maybe ever. Been doing it wrong since 2016. Has anyone else had a similar facepalm moment with something basic like this?
