Hot take: my worst camping trip ever was because of a 'perfect' tent

Honestly, everyone raves about the North Face Stormbreak 2 for being a solid all-rounder, but mine was a total letdown. I took it on a three-day trip near Lake Tahoe last fall, and the forecast called for some wind. Tbh, the first night, a gust came through that wasn't even that strong, maybe 25 mph, and the whole fly started flapping like crazy. It sounded like a flag in a hurricane all night, and I got zero sleep. The poles felt flimsy and the guy-out points were in weird spots. I know it gets great reviews, but I felt totally exposed. Has anyone else had a tent that just didn't live up to the hype in real conditions?

@keithbutler gets it, that flapping noise alone would ruin any trip.

What exactly happened? That's a pretty harsh thing for someone to say. I've been there and it really stings. Hope you're doing okay after that.
