Just realized I've camped 50 nights this year...

I was looking through my campsite photos from this season and decided to count up all the nights I've actually slept in a tent. Turns out I hit 50 nights last weekend during a trip up at Lake Crescent. That honestly surprised me because I work a regular 9-5 and only get weekends off. Has anyone else tracked their total nights in a year and found it was way more than you expected?

Yeah the "truck bed with a tarp" is pretty much my move too... pro tip though, grab one of those foam mattress toppers from Walmart, makes a world of difference for like 20 bucks and rolls up small enough to stash behind the seat.

Just realized I've camped 50 nights this year" - that's pretty impressive for a weekend warrior like you. I read somewhere that the average person only gets like 12 camping trips in a year, so you're way above that. Maybe you're just a natural at packing light and squeezing in those quick getaways, thats what I tell myself when I see my own numbers.

Hang on, I gotta push back a little on the "natural at packing light" part. I mean, sure, I've got my system down for a quick overnight, but a lot of those 50 nights are just me sleeping in the back of my truck with a sleeping bag and a tarp. It's not exactly glamorous. I'm not some bushcraft wizard packing a tiny bivy sack, I'm just lazy and don't want to set up a tent half the time. So yeah, the numbers look good, but the reality is I'm basically car camping with extra steps.
