My buddy swore by a $5 blue tarp as a tent footprint
He said spend the money on beer instead of expensive gear. First rainstorm and water pooled under my tent, soaked everything I owned. Has anyone else found a cheap footprint that actually works?

Dollar store shower curtain, same disaster.

You're telling me a dollar store shower curtain actually melted onto someone? I figured those things were just thin and tore easy, not that they'd basically turn into napalm in your bathroom. That's a whole different level of cheap than I was expecting. I've grabbed them in a pinch for camping or whatever, but now I'm thinking twice about even using one for that. Guess you really do get what you pay for with that stuff, and sometimes a lot less.
