My tent poles snapped on the third night in Shenandoah

I was out last October near Big Meadows and a gust came through around 2 AM, one aluminum pole just folded like a soda can. Had to rig it with a spare trekking pole and duct tape for the last two nights. Anyone else carry a repair sleeve after a pole failure, or am I the only one who learned that lesson the hard way?

Tent poles just fold like soda cans" is a good way to put it, but I actually see it the opposite way. I've had poles give out on me too, and honestly, I just tape it up and move on. Never felt the need to carry a repair sleeve, seems like dead weight for a rare thing. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I'd rather use that pack space for something else.
