My uncle told me to skip the air mattress in 2009 and I still hear about it
My uncle Dale took me on my first real camping trip near Estes Park back in 2009 and told me to leave the air mattress at home and just sleep on a closed cell foam pad. I thought he was just being cheap, so I hauled a big inflatable one up the trail anyway, and it had a slow leak by night two, leaving me on cold ground while he snoozed fine on his 20 dollar pad. These days every review site pushes fancy inflatables with 6 inch thickness, but I keep going back to that dumb foam pad. Anyone else still trust the old timer advice over the new gear hype?
